About Google Scholar
Google Scholar is a specialized Google search allowing users to narrow results to scholarly literature including articles, theses, books, abstracts and court opinions. Results are either available freely on the internet, while others are available through library databases and interlibrary loan.

Google Scholar Pros

• Ease of use similar to a Google web search
• Connection to Manchester University subscriptions on/off campus
• Search by cited feature and copy/paste citations
• Researcher profiles available

Google Scholar Cons

• Full text not available or restricted without subscription in some cases - $$
• Proprietary ranking system
• Citation information often incorrect
• Lack of advanced search features in general
